Worse than Dunder Mifflin
(Rating: SELL)

Verso Paper manufactures and supplies coated papers to catalog and magazine publishers., basically a business in a dying industry which sells its product to two other dying industries. It has a lot of debt and very little equity. The recent strength of the dollar is hurting them. Ospraie and other hedge funds have been liquidating their positions, putting pressure on the price. The 5.9% yield will only get bigger. The August 10Q paints an ugly pictu...

GS
Changes to Goldman's Business Model will impact stock in short term
(Rating: HOLD)
 |
Due to the fact that Goldman Sachs is now a regulated national bank, I believe this is going to have a short term negative effect on their stock. GS was able to attain stock prices over $200 a share due to their ability to be highly leveraged as an overall firm. Becoming a bank is not going to afford them the ability to be as leveraged as they once were. It will take some time to determine what the long term impact of this decision will have on Goldman's share price, but in the ...

Multiple problems
(Rating: SELL)
 |
1. Southwest now stealing vital high-margin route--> Minneapolis to Chicago. More of that is possible now that slots are opening up at major airports (such as Minneapolis). 2. Airlines not a great business to be in the next 2 years due to commodity price risk and weakening consumer. 3. Mergers: Tough to execute in ANY economy, but even tougher when jobs are a premium asset to families. 4. The US needs low-cost airlines, not high-ticket ones. YHOO
(Revised) YHOO $9.23 to $9.28 Tight Target Price Range According to Industry Valuation
(Rating: SELL)
 |
YHOO is overvalued, looking only at valuation relative to its Industry (Internet Information Providers) averages. Particularly with the MSFT deal a long ago memory, and no longer deserving of a potential acquisition premium, why does it continue to trade so richly valued? I'm thinking of buy more puts. Is this the right move? * YHOO has a Projected P/E of 28.35 * YHOO's Industry (Internet Information Providers) has an average Projected P/E of 17.09 * Implies a Projec...
