With DELL why not play a safer game and just sell a LEAP.
You do not say what contract you purchased but from the sound of your message it is ST. Bad choice IMHOP.

Look at JAN 2010 25 @ 4.45 to sell CC then just wait for a pull back and buy it back. I do this all the time with my holdings. I would not even consider buying a PUT till it was near a new high or after a really hot up day for the market. It all depends on what your original PP was and your LT goals.
