The SEC, in an attempt to keep juvenile traders from hurting other playmates, has band the use of naked shorts on certain Financial play grounds? Apparently the total beat down over the last two quarters on financials. has been too much? These are the same Financials that stuck us with declining home values and CDO's that look and act more like UFO's.

I'm not sure what to make of this. If we are so worried about irrational volitility and WWF smack downs of stocks on the play ground, should we not bring back the uptick rule instead? The new 30 day hiatus on naked shorts of financials seems a bit selective. Why not just suspend trading? And why 30 days? Its not like the banks are going to clean up their books before the 4th quarter. On the 31st day won't we just go back to kicking dirt in their faces after they pulled our hair last year? ;)
