also these stocks are so volatile that if you sell a call you could well be giving up on all your potential gains

The market is extremely volatile at the moment, I'm waiting for a while to see how the American economy responds to the Fannie/Freddie in the coming months

Yes! Especially when they "dip". I've been looking at BBT for a while and it looks good. It's held up very well(so far) and has very solid fundamentals.

YES. Buy low and sell high. In the meantime sell cc and buy a put to protect yourself.
