The acquisition of MySQL is definitely something to watch, but will not significantly change anything with Sun or Java related companies.

In my mind, this is just a chance for a very popular OSS database company to sell out for millions so big daddy can brand their name against it.

Oh believe me, I do love MySQL - in fact I personally do think the $1B price tag can be justified ...
