Baby boomers are just now hitting the age where investing is very, very imperative. - Throw in the numbers from alexa.com (a site that tracks web traffic) that shows that traffic in the last three months to etrade (among others) has dropped by 27% and traffic to ameritrade.com has increased by 19% and you have a pretty compelling picture of who's going to be in the winners circle.
