Fundamental Analysis

from wikipedia

The company is the world's largest processor and marketer of chicken , beef , and pork , and annually exports the largest percentage of beef out of the United States . With 2005 sales of US$ 26 billion, Tyson Foods is the second-largest food production company in the Fortune 500 , the largest meat producer in the world, and according to Forbes one of the 100 largest companies in the United States. It supplies all Yum! Brands chains that use chicken (including KFC and Taco Bell ), as well as McDonald's , Burger King , Wendy's , Wal-Mart , Kroger , Costco , IGA , Beef O'Brady's , small restaurant businesses, and prisons .It has strategic alliances with ConocoPhillips to produce and market renewable diesel fuel; and Kemin Industries, Inc. to develop liquid and dry flavor-enhancers to the North American pet food market, as well as a joint venture with Syntroleum Corporation to produce renewable synthetic fuels for renewable diesel, jet, and military fuel markets.

Update 04/23:

1.A weak dollar will help exports

2.As emerging markets gets more affluent, there will be a shift to protein rich products like meat. The US administration can be reasonably expected to bully these countries into reducing tariffs to offset the trade imbalances.

3.The American consumer is going to be poorer going forward. As this happens they would be increasingly unwilling to pay high prices for organic foods. So in spite of having good intentions to save the world etc they would settle for the cheaper factory produced meat instead of organic produce.

4.The stock has been beaten down in the face of rising input costs but this is food we are talking about.Americans have been used to eating meat for decades now and is unlikely to cut down anytime soon.So there is a lot of pricing power that these food companies possess and we would see that being demonstrated going forward.

Update 06/20:

Hog farmers are calling it quits.Supply is dwindling.People continue to eat pork.Demand is constant or in fact may be rising.

Added to my position at lower levels.
