EU approves Novartis' Cubicin to treat hospital infections

The European Union has approved Cubicin for expanded use in patients suffering from potentially fatal infections commonly contracted during hospital stays. The two new indications approved were right-sided infective endocarditis due to Staphylococcus aureus, an infection of the heart valve, and Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia, a bloodstream infection.
