i expect a gross earnings season this fall. on a weekly chart for the down we have a strong resistance around 9800 so i do not expect much upside here. a nice consolidation period here would be nice before any more upside action.

What would you say to all the punters that say Q409 over Q408 will be gangbusters due to the easy comparison? Also, Alcoa has indicated that companies are cost-cutting their way to outperforming in Q3. Rebuttal?

i do not expect earnings season this fall to be anything spectacular, however cost-cutting could help their earnings (layoffs etc).

overall, i'd still be cautious entering long positions that are not commodity related shares. in terms of consolidations, i expect it to be a regular healthy one. the sky won't fall until the banks are forced to eat massive losses on their derivatives trades. in time though, they will.

sorry that i do not update my socialpicks more frequently, but i've moved more into thinking that the economy with be further inflated with the cheap money being given out by the fed.

i feel that we won't have another collapse in asset prices until there is "intervention" in the system. when i mention intervention, i am talking about policies that have the historical ability to change the way our system currently works.

however, we should be on edge because there are economic laws, violations of which result in consequences.

when the market goes up, look to sectors that will most benefit from our collapsing currency, inflation, etc. Monty guild from guildinvestment.com has written an excellent piece on this that can be found here:

as far as TWM, i am only interested in this for the very short term.
