The engineering and projects business unit of Bajaj Electricals has received an order to illuminate the Bandra-Worli sea-link project. Anant Bajaj, executive director of the company said that the project worth Rs 9 crore is slated to be commissioned in the current year. He told reporters the company has also bagged some of the prestigious orders like the flood lighting of the new Balewadi stadium in Pune where the Youth Commonwealth Games will be held next week. The company has also received floodlighting contract for the cricket stadium in Indore which will be completed just in time for the India-England cricket match scheduled in November, he said. Besides, the company also has bagged four major rural electrification orders worth Rs 364 crore which involves electrifying six lakh below poverty line (BPL) homes in remote villages of West Bengal, Orissa and Chhatisgarh. Bajaj said the E and P division of the company has orders on hand worth over Rs 850 crore of which the rural electrification orders are worth Rs 364 crore. He said the company received an order worth Rs 204 crore from National Electric Supply Company for providing electricity connections to 4.50 lakh BPL homes in Murshidabad district in West Bengal. The job to be completed in 18 months will cover 1,898 villages. Each BPL home will be provided with a metering kit and an energy saving lamp. This is the single largest order awarded by NESCL under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna. (PTI) ( This post is from an independent writer.
