JDSU (JDSU) this afternoon announced that its board has named Thomas Waechter president and CEO, succeeding Kevin Kennedy, who as previously announced is leaving to become CEO at Avaya (AV).

Waechter is currently president of JDSUâ€™s largest business segment, communications test and measurement. The company notes that he has previously been CEO of three public companies; he also spent 14 years as an exec at Schlumberger.
