Sigma Designs (SIGM) shares are up sharply today, apparently on news that the chip maker is going to be added to the S&P Small Cap 600 stock index. Sigma is replacing Noven Pharmaceuticals (NOVN), which is being acquired.

SIGM today is up $1, or 6.6%, to $16.25.
