Agilent (A) shares are trading higher this morning on better-than-expected results for the fiscal fourth quarter ended October 31.

The test and measurement company reported revenue for the quarter of $1.17 billion, down 21% from a year ago, but above the Street at $1.11 billion. Orders of $1.27 billion were down 11%. Non-GAAP EPS was 32 cents, above the Street at 23 cents.

For FY Q1, the company sees flat year-over-year revenue, which implies $1.17 billion, a bit ahead of the Street at $1.09 billion; Agilent sees non-GAAP profits of 28-32 cents a share, ahead of the Street at 27 cents.

JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU) reported a loss of 15 cents per share for the first quarter, wider than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of loss of 4 cents per share.
 
Net revenues were $297.8 million, compared to net revenues of $273.1 million for the prior quarter and net revenues of $273.1 million for the year-ago quarter.
 
Non-GAAP net revenues were $298.6 million, which includes $7.5 million from the acquisition of the Storage Network Tools business, increased 9% when compared to the previous quarter and decreased 21% when compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2009.
