Earlier today I sold my 180 shares of Abaxis (ABAX) at $31.2754/share. I did this on the weakness of the stock and some fundamental news that disappointed. These shares were purchased 10/25/07 at a cost basis of $28.29, so I had a gain of $2.99 or 9.5% since purchase. This was actually my second sale of Abaxis--30 shares were sold 12/11/07 at $36.37 for a gain of $8.08 or 28.6% since purchase.

Abaxis (ABAX) closed at $30.00, down $(2.55) or (7.83)% on the day.

Earlier today I noticed that my Abaxis stock was closing in on my first targeted appreciation point--a 30% gain--and I sold 1/7th of my position or 30 out of my 210 shares at $36.74. This left me 180 shares in my trading account. I had purchased these shares just 6 weeks ago (!) at a cost basis of $28.29. Thus, I had a gain of $8.45 or 29.9% since purchase.

I was looking through the list of top % gainers on the NASDAQ this afternoon and noted that an 'old favorite' of mine, Abaxis (ABAX), was one of the top % gainers, closing at $20.57, up $3.57 or 21% on the day.

<>I first posted ABAXIS on Stock Picks Bob's Advice on September 26, 2003, when the stock was trading at $13.40. With today's close at $20.57, this represents an appreciation of $7.17 or 53.5% since posting. Looking through some of the underlying 'numbers' on the stock, it appears to still deserve a place on this blog. I do not own any shares or options on this stock. Let me review ...
