I think that biggest shareholders of ( APP ) are shocked today, including insiders. When I look into their balance sheet nothing points to this fall but this is how market reacts sometimes. In general it is very useful indicator to investors in any stock, from biggest blue chips to micro caps. You see the thing is that almost all profitable companies in any industry trade for sky high prices, don't believe me so let's look into American Apparel Inc. competition, the biggest competitor is Gap Inc. ( GPS ), for $1,000,000,000 in profits, investors value the company at $14,000,0...

American Apparel: The Next Urban Outfitters?

After listening to Dov Charney's, the charismatic CEO of American Apperal (APP), latest earnings conference call for the 2nd quarter, it got me thinking that this up-and-coming company based out of LA could be something to keep your eyes on. I realize there is no idea so good that it cannot be spoiled by pundits or nay-sayers. However, this next Urban Outfitters (URBN) posted Q2 numbers that would make Richard Simmons quiver. <> American Apparel reported net sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 of $133 million, a 38.9% increase over net sales of $95.7 million for the quarter ended June 3>...

Good new company with strong fundamentals. Saw sales increases in April & May despite weakened consumers. Recently approved stock buyback program should strengthen holdings. New company with young costumer base & potent advertising campaign, at this depressed price would be a great time to get in. The fresh inovative designs of the clothing should keep it attractive even in a slow market, international exposure will likely keep this company somewhat insulated from economic pressure at home.
