Based on significant drops in price due to forecasted outlook, Apple has been priced to a significant discount. The growth potential of this company, specifically in the home personal computing and business market, is still rapidly moving forwarded and is inadequately shown in its stock price. A strong buy recommendation is placed on this stock for the 1st quarter of 2008.

Apple: Getting A Boost From QCOM Licensing Loophole
|
|
|
Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi this morning weighed in with a fascinating look at the under-appreciated boost Apple (APPL) gets from a highly attractive licensing arrangement for 3G radio patents held by Qualcomm (QCOM). <>With the iPhone, he notes in a research report, Apple will take an estimated 9% of the global handset market in 2009 as measured by value, and about a third of industry profits. In smart phones, he says, Apple will have 24% of available revenues this year, and 29% next year. Meanwhile, Qualcomm is the largest holder of 3G radio patents, collecting royalties from >...

Nokia (NOK) today said it has sued Apple (APPL) for patent infringement in federal court in Delaware, asserting that the iPhone violated 10 of the companies patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN standard. Nokia contends the patents involved in the case have already been licensed by about 40 companies, “including virtually all of the leading mobile device vendors.” <>The patents cover wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption; Nokia asserts that all iPhones are infringing. “By refusing to agree appropriate terms for Nokia’s intellectual property, Apple is attempting to get a fr<>>><>><><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />>>< />...

Communications is the new commodity much like aluminum, copper or oil is now.
The Chinese government tends to want to control the game when it gets large enough. They may want to pick the winners. Our Western tendency where investors look at a company’s prospects and ignore government will not serve < />< /><>>< />< /><>< />>...

Apple: Here Comes Something Or Another!

It’s almost time for Apple (APPL) to announce something. Over at AllThingsD, Peter Kafka is reporting that, according to multiple sources in the music industry, Apple is planning “one of its famed keynote events” for the week of September 7. There has been no specific details on any of this from the company, of course. <>You’d have to assume, given the company has been briefing people in the music biz, that this involves something music-related. (Wonder if that explains the mystery ad the company was shooting in a diner in Truckee.) So we could see new iPods, and updates to iTunes. Wheth>...
