I've had China Automotive Systems (CAAS) on one of my watch lists for about a year, and actually emailed a few people about the great chart roughly 6-7 sessions ago.  Yesterday was a serious breakout (look at that volume explosion along with the price), and the party continues today.  I mentioned this name on twitter yesterday morning when it was "only" up about 10% on 4x normal volume in the first 60+ minutes. 

Folks, this is a 2 MONTH chart....it's approaching a triple in that time frame.

Why two semiconductor companies bucked the downtrend
Wednesday the market sold off in the last hour and major indexes ended the day with losses. Semiconductor indexes were underwater pretty much the entire day. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (IGW) ended down 1.72%.

Two well-known semiconductor companies were able to buck the downtrend and close with gains. Who were they and what were the reasons? Are there clues as to else might benefit?

Buried in the semiconductor supply chain are the companies that actually produce the chips for the firms that do much of the design work and handle sales to end users and OEMs.

Morgan Turns Cautious On Chips, Semi Equipment; Downgrades Many Stocks

Morgan Stanley this morning turned cautious on both the chip stocks and the semiconductor equipment sector, downgrading ratings on many names in the group.

Well, I am a little frustrated here since somehow the market bounces / goes sideways but quite a few of our positions are now down below the 50 day moving average... that's an interesting divergence that marks this pullback different (thus far) than the previous three episode since July.

Roth Capital Cuts Intel, Several Chips

Roth Capital Partners analyst Arnab Chanda this morning lowered his rating on several chip stocks to “Hold” from “Buy,” citing the risk of a modest inventory build given high projeced margins and growth at Intel (INTC), Marvell (MRVL), Nvidia (NVDA) and others.
