Filed under: AutoZone Inc (AZO), Stocks to Buy AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) is a specialty retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories. Its stores offer the do-it-yourself car tech tremendous value on parts and accessories. The company stocks all kinds of parts and has a great sales staff. In my experience, their parts personnel have always been very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. <>On Sept. 23, the company reported a 3% decline in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit. This decline in earnings could have been the result of the government's "cash for clunkers" plan, which >...

Filed under: AutoZone Inc (AZO), Stocks to Buy This was a complex call, but I'm Reiterating my Buy rating for AutoZone (NYSE: AZO), first recommended on March 30, 2009 at a price of $163.40. AutoZone's stock has not performed as well as I had expected. Technically, AZO has straddled the 50-day moving average for two months, or as a friend and trading guru used to say, "The stock is meandering."Continue reading AutoZone: Auto parts must show results, or else <>AutoZone: Auto parts must show results, or else originally appeared on BloggingStocks on Thu, 30 Jul 2009 15:40:00 EST. AutoZone is well-positioned for the car maintenance era

Filed under: AutoZone Inc (AZO), Stocks to Buy The U.S. stock market remains highly selective: select the wrong stock, and there's a 30-40% haircut up ahead; select the correct stock, and you're positioned for the recovery with modest downside exposure. And with the above in mind, AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) is worth a review.
AutoZone represents a good example of a defensive/growth hybrid -- a rare combination. The defensive aspect is its auto parts business for do-it-yourself auto repair enthusiasts, known as the aftermarket: the recession means more American motorists will perform selected, preve...

I like AZO so much... the only P/E that makes sense right now... AZO will move higher. Conceptually, auto sales plumetting at double digit levels means people are servicing their hunks of junk for longer periods of time.. ummm... more auto parts sales growth means higher profits. Earnings has continued to perform the past 2 years, and the continued weakness in new auto sales will continue to drive demand for auto maintenance machine AutoZone.

This stock will outperform on the exchange. If we've hit an intermediate bottom, as it appears right now, AZO is a good way to be involved within the auto, while offsetting declining auto sales. P/E is relatively cheap on a historical basis, and with a recession, it's plain to see folks will buy auto parts to get their car to last 1,000 more miles. <> Also, legendary investor Lampert recently increased his stake to 36%, and he's been a strong advocate of growing shareholder value. My bet is he will persuade the board to reduce its debt with their cash, to drive up earnings per >...

Another reason for auto-related investing: in one word (or maybe, technically, two, AutoZone (AZO).
For a while now
I have been speculating that the auto sector - not Ford (F) or GM (GM) -
may be the way to go and that there is value in the sector. Results from
those companies may be confirming that.<!---->

Hello Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my blog, Stock Picks Bob's Advice ! As always, please remember that I am an amateur investor, so please remember to consult with your professional investment advisers prior to making any investment decisions based on information on this website. It is late and I wanted to get this write-up on the blog. Let me see if I can do this briefly. <> AutoZone (AZO) made the list of top % gainers on the NYSE closing at $128.80, up $20.93 or 19.40% on the day. I do not own any shares nor do I have any options on AutoZo>...

If anything surprised me about AutoZone (azo) today, it's that its stock post-earnings today wasn't up. I mean: Earnings per share beat estimates, yet again, thanks to buybacks. Who cares about sales missing estimates? Who cares about sales per square foot that are either down or flat year-over-year for 12 consecutive quarters? Or inventory turns at a multi-year lows? Or sliding sales per store? Or continued weak same-store sales? <> All that matters, in a buyback story, is earnings per share. Or if you really want to stretch the story -- rising margins as the company continues>...
