I like AZO so much... the only P/E that makes sense right now... AZO will move higher. Conceptually, auto sales plumetting at double digit levels means people are servicing their hunks of junk for longer periods of time.. ummm... more auto parts sales growth means higher profits. Earnings has continued to perform the past 2 years, and the continued weakness in new auto sales will continue to drive demand for auto maintenance machine AutoZone.

I was always negative on this stock, my ranking went down because I don't really check this and it put me long. Oh well, #1 socialpick rule make sure you're choosing the side you meant to be on.

This stock will outperform on the exchange. If we've hit an intermediate bottom, as it appears right now, AZO is a good way to be involved within the auto, while offsetting declining auto sales. P/E is relatively cheap on a historical basis, and with a recession, it's plain to see folks will buy auto parts to get their car to last 1,000 more miles. <> Also, legendary investor Lampert recently increased his stake to 36%, and he's been a strong advocate of growing shareholder value. My bet is he will persuade the board to reduce its debt with their cash, to drive up earnings per >...

AutoZone: Hold shares
Filed under: AutoZone Inc (AZO) AutoZone Inc.'s stock (NYSE: AZO) remains a bit of an enigma, hence for now, I'm placing a Hold on the company's shares, first recommended on March 39, 2009 at a price of $163.40.
Auto parts chain AutoZone's forecast revenue growth for FY2010 of 4-6% is sufficient following a 4.5% gain in FY2009, including a 5.4% increase in same store sales in Q4. The headwinds are real: high U.S. gasoline prices that might delay purchases, but they are offset by long-term trends: more drivers maintaining older, used cars because they aren't able to purchase a new one.<><>Continu>>...

Novell: SCO May Settle Unix Suit
|
|
|
Beleaguered software vendor Novell (NOVL), which has been fighting a lawsuit by bankrupt SCO Group for the last several years, could see a silver ligning, writes Ladenburg Thalmann analyst Aaron Schwartz in a note this morning. He says SCO may settle with Novel in its claim of infringement of intellectual property SCO holds with respect to the Unix operating system, rather than proceed to a jury trial against Novell. <>Schwartz notes that the incoming court-appointed bankruptcy trustee for SCO Group fired Darl McBride, the CEO, on Monday. McBride had made himself a vilain in the world of Linux>...

AZO

Filed under: AutoZone Inc (AZO), Stocks to Buy AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) is a specialty retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories. Its stores offer the do-it-yourself car tech tremendous value on parts and accessories. The company stocks all kinds of parts and has a great sales staff. In my experience, their parts personnel have always been very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. <>On Sept. 23, the company reported a 3% decline in its fiscal fourth-quarter profit. This decline in earnings could have been the result of the government's "cash for clunkers" plan, which >...
