The Franklin Resources (NYSE: BEN) Buy call, issued on July 20, 2009 at a price of $73.88, is panning out, which is why I'm Reiterating my Buy rating for the company' shares. If you bought BEN in July, you're up about 54%.

Franklin Resources: A Bull Market Stock to Buy Now

While I’m tempted to recommend the Joe Montana rookie card as my investment idea (seriously … I saw a few on eBay), I’ll get back to the stock market. My idea this time is a stock that showed up in Cabot Top Ten Report a few weeks ago, and has since traded extremely tightly.

It’s a big, “bull market” stock–Franklin Resources (BEN), the huge asset manager that operates Franklin Templeton Investments with more than $400 billion of assets under management. At the end of June, 46% of assets were equity, fixed-income 33%, and so-called hybrid assets accounting for the rest.

    Experienced investors know that sometimes you have to make an exception. Generally not a fan of stand-alone money managers as equity plays, I've made an exception and issued a Buy recommendation for Franklin Resources (NYSE: BEN). Here's why:

    Franklin's assets under management increased about 15% in Q2. Further, management fee rates, under pressure for several reasons, show signs of firming in 2009.
