Based on its decent Q3 performance and the 2010 outlook for the U.S./global economies, I'm reiterating my Buy rating for General Cable Corporation (BGC), first recommended on May 5, 2009 at a price of $34.59.

General Cable, which develops, designs, manufactures, and distributes copper, aluminum, and fiber optic wire and cable products for the communications, energy and electrical markets, reported Q3 EPS of 55 cents, above the First Call Q3 EPS estimate of 53 cents. General Cable Hit by Weak Construction Market

Shares of $2 billion market cap General Cable (BGC), a maker of ethernet wiring for corporate data centers, are selling off in a big way after the company beat Q3 expectations but forecast the current quarter below expectations.

Rising metals costs are threatening profits, the company said, and continued fall-off in non-residential construction also means lower profitability. The company expects to trim production this quarter, though it did not say by how much.

A "Buy Anything" Market

I was patting myself on the back as I looked at the huge surge in the portfolio today - each and every long position is up, most materially so. Then I went into my watch lists which are literally hundreds upon hundreds of stocks - probably around 400. Excluding 50 or so which are "highly speculative" I can only find about a dozen that are in the red. It's the "buy anything market" brought to you courtesy of the destruction of your currency.

The only losers I can find:

    General Cable: Holding shares, while monitoring technicals
    I'm Reiterating my Buy rating for General Cable Corp. (NYSE: BGC), first recommended on May 5, 2009 at a price of $34.59.

    Since the May recommendation, BGC has run into resistance at/near $43. The stock broke through psychological resistance at $40 (twice), rallied slightly higher, only to fall back both times.
