Is this the worst we will see from BankUnited at $.84. I hear there are some decent bids coming in with a final bid date of 5/22 and I'm willing to be that we can make it 'til then without the FDIC stepping in.

I feel they will merge with another bank or be reduced some by the government and survive. someone surely wants expose one whe east coast. This might be a good hold but risky. I'm long on this I got in at 1.65 i did buy and sell a lot i bought at .54 but held several thousand at 1.65 i still have confidence that something will happend to bkuna other than closure

OK, so this company has plenty of mortgage exposure and their loan loss provision is viewed as being too small.  If prices continue to drop, and I think they will, loss provisions may increase.  How much further can it drop though?  It is trading at a P/E of 3.6 and a p/b of 0.33.  Other things of note:

-No subprime exposure

-Zero document loans have a FICO of 720

-weighted average FICO of all mortgage exposure is over 700

-60% of loan portfolio is either full document or stated income and verified assets

BusinessWeek is reporting Regulators gauging other banks' interests in WaMu.
