oil futures atificially inflated today. Will probably settle back down tomorrow as will gold I am correct.

 

Cal will get a little boost for a day or 2. Good luck and always place a stop close to your opening position.

Today Continental announced that they will be charging $15 for a first bag checked in. With the economy how it is going with this trend is the worst thing the company can do. This won't affect first-class flyers but I believe will deter many coach flyers from the company.

 On top of this people over Labor day weekend this year flew in smaller numbers then in previous years. This is a sign of things to come.

And on top of all of that you must remember that not even airline owners invest in airlines. It's a terrible industry. End quote.

Airline industry has been one of the most beaten in last year. AMEX Airline Index (XAL) is down more than 50% in last months and but on July it had been even almost 70% down. What is interesting is that recent low has been formed on July. Compared to other industries where recent lows have been reached during October after heavy sell-off. Earlier turnover is due to declining crude oil and gasoline prices which are down more that 50% since July peak.
