    Citigroup analyst Jim Suva this morning turned “more constructive” on the contract electronics manufacturers, raising his ratings on Flextronics (FLEX) and Jabil (JBL) to Buy from Hold, lifting Celestica (CLS) to Hold from Sell and adding FLEX to the firm’s Top Picks Live list.

    “In our view, industry fundamentals have bottomed, and we see revenue growth and margin expansion over the next 24 months,” he writes.

    Celestica Shares Rally As Q1 EPS Tops Estimates

    Celestica (CLS) this morning posted Q1 results consistent with previous guidance, as EPS topped Street expectations.

    The contract electronics manufacturer posted revenue of $1.469 billion, down 20% from $1.836 billion a year ago, and below the Street at $1.51 billion. But adjusted EPS of 13 cents a share, while down from 15 cents a year ago, was above the Street at 9 cents. Gross margin improved to 7.6% from 6.3% a year ago; operating margin moved up to 2.9%, from 2.7%.

    HP Miss Not Good For Contract Manufacturers FLEX, JBL

    The soft results and weak outlook reported last night by Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) is putting some pressure on the contract electronics manufacturers and distributors with close ties to the company.

    In a note this morning, Longbow Research analyst Shawn Harrison provided a list of some of companies with significant exposure to HP.
