In his Ticker Tape Digest, technician Leo Fasciocco looks for "breakout" stocks; his latest feature is HMS Holdings (NASDAQ: HMSY), which coordinates benefits for government healthcare programs.

"With annual revenues of $185 million, HMSY helps ensure that healthcare claims are paid correctly and by the responsible party.

"As a result of the company’s services, government healthcare programs recover over $1 billion annually and avoid billions of dollars more in erroneous payments.

Spectrum Pharmaceuticals (SPPI) just announced that the Centers for Medicare and Medicade Services (CMS) ruled in favor of the company's radio-immunotherapy Zevalin®. Zevalin is now approved as a first-line treatment for patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL).

This is good news for SPPI as Zevalin will now be reimbursed at an average sales price (ASP) of most other cancer drugs. As I understand it, this ruling means that Zevain should now be reimbursed at a price +5% to +6% from its current price. It should be noted that the new price will be effective as of January 1, 2010.

Erick Schonfeld: A couple days ago at the Web 2.0 Summit, AOL CEO Tim Armstrong caused a little bit of a stir when he hinted that AOL is working on a “secret” technology project...

The secret project is a new content-management system (CMS) which will make it easier to produce and publish Web content across AOL’s sites and perhaps beyond. It will also help AOL scale up the number of contributors who write articles and produce videos for its numerous media sites well beyond the thousands who are working for it today...
