A very simple way to control the related company level portfolio would be to manage defaults and thus manage the card application process so that the same results in a significant reduction in operational losses. Today COF defaults worldwide are increasing and those in the US are well in Double digits. This signifies that there has been a short term deterioration in credit quality because of the market and there is a residual weakness in credit issuance that needs to be addressed. The new CARD ...

Delinquencies on their intl accounts are smaller than in the US accounts but are fast catching up unlike others like MBNA (now HSBC :: HBC) and others . $BAC and $JPM have already confessed to gaps in their profitability charts from Cards Providers are also likely ...

I am still eyeing that gap at $24 in Capital One (COF) but at this point it appears it will take an act of God to get the stock market down ;) I am going to scurry off with my 16% loss on the last 1.1% of this position (suffered similar losses on other parts of the position along the way). If you notice I am posting the exact same chart in many stocks today - companies have pulled back to 20 or 50 day moving averages but have been bouncing. Essentially almost all stocks move with the greater markets nowadays - so as the indexes bounce, almost everything runs up with it.

Our term for this has been "monolithic trading". We're slowly adjusting to this reality even though we've been pointing it out for over 2 years.
Discover reported earnings today, and considering the economic situation, it's pretty solid, with such lo>...
