We're behind on earnings reports - there are quite a few this week and I've been unable to keep up with the volume, so we'll catch up over the next week.
Interesting reaction in the stock today for Ctrip.com (CTRP) as it is up nearly 20% - we hold very little so it's not really helping us. They beat analysts estimates by a wide margin but have provided very weak guidance (for them). quarter of 2008 in spite of bad weather and again
exceeded market consensus estimates. Its profit
margin continued to improve due to strong revenue
growth and increased commission per ticket sold.
Ctrip s results were driven by strong growth in all of

Pullback following the earning call resulted in the CTRP shares trading at $58 level today. I am liking the shares at these levels. Although the shares will remain volatile and we could see additional dip as nervous traders continues to like to take the momentum out of the stock, I would start buying back your shares at these levels. Late last month, I have downgraded CTRP to hold from buy as the stock hit my long term target of $70. I advised you to sell a portion of your holding as I anticipated selling pressure after the earning. Since then the stock has drifted lower from high of $74 level to $67. I also indicated that long term story for CTRP is intact and should there be a dip in the share price well below $65, you should be buying back your shares.

CTRP and FMCN are two china names that we covered at FilthyRich China names. CTRP and FMCN have been on fire. CTRP is the single best idea for 07 and in matter of 10 months, the stock is generating nearly 90% return for our group. FMCN has been a stellar performer. I initiated this stock in last Nov as an additional China name that will have a great return in 07. Guess what? In just over two months, it has racked up 37% gain. I am in the process of revising the TP for FMCN at a higher level. However, I believe that both names have risen too much too fast ahead of their earning in Feb.

Why am I bullish for CTRP?
CTRP is an online travler consolidator in China. You act think of it as Expedeia.com of the US. Unlike the online travel business that is showing signs of more difficult business outlook in the US, online travel business is merely starting in China and is set to undergo dramatic business uptick in coming 10 years. CTRP share price has seen selling pressure due to market correction in China and poor earning results from Expedia.com in the US which triggered investors' fear that the company earning growth may slow and current high PE multiple cannot be sustained....
