Why pay full retail price at Dillards when similar/same items can be bought elsewhere for less? Dillards reacted to the consumer trade-down trend by adding more expensive items to its lineup. Dillards, along with other hurting retailers, is closing stores, but I believe their approach on the full price items is only going to continue to hurt them. The traffic at my local Dillards never seemed to be great, other than it being a main entrance to the mall and hence people pass thru the store.
