    Pacific Crest: Sees Slower Spend On Data Centers; Cuts Ratings On BRCD, CVLT, DBTK, QLGC; Chops Many Ests

    The Street continues to come to grips with the arrival of slower IT spending. As I noted in an earlier post, RBC Capital this morning lowered their outlook on a host of stocks to reflect an eroding outlook for IT spending. As it turns out, Pacific Crest’s tech analysts today made a similar move, downloading four tech stocks and reducing estimates and/or price targets on various others.

    Does Riverbed’s Atlas Product Threaten Storage Vendors?

    Riverbed (RVBD), which made its mark in wide-area network optimization, earlier this week unveiled a move into an entirely new area designed to improve the efficiency of enterprise storage. If the new product catches on, the implications are ominous for enterprise storage providers like NetApp (NTAP) and EMC (EMC).

    Data Domain: Q2 Results Top Estimates

    Data Domain (DDUP) reported better than expected Q2 results.

    For the quarter, the company posted revenue of $61.2 million and GAAP profits of 3 cents a share; the Street had expected $58.2 million and a penny. The company noted that it had record revenue; DDUP said it has doubled its customer base over the last year.

    DDUP, a provider of de-duplication storage systems, fell 35 cents, or 1.6%, to $22.25 in the regular session.
