Digital River Inc. (DRIV) Trend Trader saw a $1.50 a share gain in just two days (before the small commissions) as DRIV made a strong move up. By close Friday, it had drifted back to rest at the old resistance/new support? level near $29. Though a retracement to the trend that began toward the end of January might be expected, DRIV could well offer another entry with good possibilities.

An extremely stable company trading within a finite range over the last three years. Association with Symantec provided a solid kick-off for this billion dollar company. Last year's seventy million dollar income on three-hundred fifty million revenue added to the six-hundred-seventy-five million dollar equity. If you like to move on two points, Digital River should be in your portfolio.

(DRIV) recently reported third-quarter revenues of $99.4 million, up 3.2% from the year-ago level and surpassed management’s revenue guidance of $96.5 million – $98.5 million. The growth in revenues was driven by strength in software, consumer electronics and games markets where the company expanded existing client relationships and closed new business as well.

    Earnings per share of 42 cents easily beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 33 cents and exceeded management’s forecast of 38 cents – 41 cents.

    Digital River Q3 Tops Street; Q4 View Misses

    Digital River (DRIV) posted Q3 revenue of $99.4 million, up from $96.3 million a year ago, and ahead of the Street at $98.3 million. Non-GAAP profits of 42 cents a share beat the Street consensus by a penny.

    For Q4, the company sees revenue of $94 million to $98 million, with non-GAAP profits of 30-34 cents a share; the Street has been expecting the e-commerce services provider to post $96.5 million and 42 cents.

    Symantec drowns Digital River

    Founded in 1994, Digital River (NASDAQ: DRIV) has built platform that allows for digital downloads of software (yes, it was a visionary idea back then). In fact, the company now handles about half the market. But there has always been a nagging concern with Digital River; that is, customer concentration.

    Unfortunately, today the nightmare scenario came true -- Digital River's largest customer, Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC), will not renew its contract (which expires on June 30th).
