Eastman Kodak stock, EKInvestors continued to sell Eastman Kodak (NYSE: EK) during the second quarter, and shares bottomed at $2 per share.

Looking forward, I recently added Eastman Kodak to my Penny Stock Winners model portfolio as a buy recommendation.

In my opinion, the carnage at Eastman Kodak has been complete and the upside benefit of the digtal revolution is worth the speculation. The company may never fully recover from the last few years, but a small improvement in operations can result in big gains in the stock.

The stock price has really been beaten down along with the rest of the market.  This comes at a time when the company was just starting to turn to corner to profitability after years of restructuring.  Has management finally got it right?

I saw a DHL truck on the road a few days ago.  It reminded me of the little yellow and red boxes that Kodak film came in when I was buying tons of Verichrome Pan 120 back when Gerald Ford was President.  Kodak still makes Verichrome Pan, and it still comes in a little yellow and red box, but I don't know of anybody who uses it any more.  I mean, somebody has to, since they still make the stuff, but it's like buying film for an old Calumet 4x5 view camera, arcane, specialized, hard to find and not a growth industry.

Eastman Kodak (NYSE:EK) reported a small but significant profit for Q4 of $17 million. It was probably the toughest $17 million they have ever earned. The milestone of digital earnings growth surpassing the rate of decline from traditional product lines was also critically important....
...If growth in digital earnings is to continue either R&D has to be properly focused on a ramp up or you will have to buy it. A $42 million dollar decrease in Q4 R&D expenditures to generate a $17 million profit looks suspicious and opportunistic.
