The stock price has really been beaten down along with the rest of the market. This comes at a time when the company was just starting to turn to corner to profitability after years of restructuring. Has management finally got it right? <> They report their earnings next week, on the 30th of October at 11 a.m. ET. They've already declared a semi-annual 25 cent dividend. Ex-date for receiving the divvie is the 30th. I'm thinking that the stock price is already reflecting the slowdown in the economy and that any dissappointing results have already been factored in. I saw a DHL truck on the road a few days ago. It reminded me of the little yellow and red boxes that Kodak film came in when I was buying tons of Verichrome Pan 120 back when Gerald Ford was President. Kodak still makes Verichrome Pan, and it still comes in a little yellow and red box, but I don't know of anybody who uses it any more. I mean, somebody has to, since they still make the stuff, but it's like buying film for an old Calumet 4x5 view camera, arcane, specialized, hard to find and not a growth industry. You can still find disposable Kodak cameras at the Walgreens, and ...

This company is so well connected in the film industry. And for consumers worldwide it is a name which inspires trust and nostalgia. So they are late moving into the digital age, but they are moving aggressively, and restructuring, and laying the groundwork for a huge rise. Their engineers will have more surprises like the recent one of the new chip.

<> It was Eastman Kodak Co.’s turn to ride the rumor rocket. Kodak shares (NYSE: EK) climbed more than 9 percent by mid-afternoon to $26.23 Wednesday despite no news or filings by the imaging firm. But a source on Wall Street explained three rumors were floating around on the Street on Wednesday. More than 10 million shares had traded by 2:15 p.m., compared with an average trading of 2.8 million shares. The first scenario has a private equity firm in a leveraged buyout of Kodak. The second rumor involved a link of Kodak with Dell Inc. The th>...

Eastman Kodak's (ek) press release today that the company is making "progress" in its digital strategy leaves out one key point: In recent quarters its digital sales have bee slipping from the year earlier. The real story at Kodak is its push into printers, which to my way of thinking is a Hail Mary approach at saving the company. It's unclear, however, whether its printers can really gain traction against entrenched competitors, especially Hewlett Packard (hpq) -- and especially if it prices printers above the competition in hopes to lure customers with lower-priced cartridges. ...
