A strong up-and-coming alt. energy pure-play, it's engaged in the development and manufacture (and hopefully lots of sales) of "large" fuel cell power plants for cleaner and more efficient electric power generation and distributed energy applications. The recent strong push towards a sustainable (pun intended) $10 plus range (and new 52 week highs) will continue, and Imo be reached before year end. So, an entry anywhere below $10 looks pretty darn good to me for the long haul.

A123 Systems (AONE) - Hype or Hope?

An interesting IPO today in A123 Systems (AONE) - I don't know enough about it to tell if it is hype or hope. I do remember similar companies a decade ago flying off the handle on hype - Ballard Power (BLDP) and FuelCell Energy (FCEL) are the first two to come to mind. [I encourage you to pull up a 10 year chart of Ballard Power or FuelCell to see where they used to trade in 1999] A decade later neither of these are making money - but I am sure the "hope" remains. ;) Since we seem to be returning to a lot of the same situations as we saw in the NASDAQ a decade ago in terms of ever upwar...

FuelCell (FCEL) gains momentum, but for how long?
Shares of FuelCell Energy, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:FCEL) are up 28% in the last five days, up on news from their last earnings call. I for one, am not convinced.
FCEL posted a net loss of $19.9 million, or 29 cents per share. Still, that's better than the year-over period, when losses settled at $25.8 million or 38 cents per share. And it just barely beat a 30-cent expected loss from analysts.

Filed under: Earnings reports, Stocks to Buy, Green Stocks When Charles Dickens wrote, "Bring in the bottled lightning, a clean tumbler and a corkscrew," it's safe to say the great English novelist wasn't referring to energy technology. But in the 21st century we know that a whole lot of bottled lightning can be uncorked using a variety of sophisticated devices -- and one of the most interesting types is fuel cells. <>Today we got lightning news from one of the best companies in the fuel cell space, the aptly named FuelCell Energy (NASDAQ: FCEL). Although the company reported lower product sa>...
