Filed under: Stocks to Buy The shares of First Solar Inc. (FSLR), first discussed here on February 1, 2010, at a price of $113.81, continue to progress, but it's been a wild ride and the shares definitely are not for squeamish investors.
Further, First Solar's roller-coaster pattern continued this autumn: a rise to $150 in October was followed by a plunge to $120 in November; FSLR currently trades at about $135.
First Solar should post a 20% to 25% revenue increase in 2010, and a 35% to 40% revenue increase in 2011, and it's those eye-opening growth rates that have attracted the attention of ...

Filed under: Stocks to Buy Generally, my bias is toward large-cap companies with a demonstrated business model. In a nutshell, "experimental" business models need not apply. The downside reward is much greater now that the stock is up 24% today. The upside risk is lower. Long term, FSLR sells a commodity product whose margins will come down due to competitive pressure. Margin risk shouldn't be underestimated in this stock, since current margins are fat enough to invite plenty of different types of competition.

Filed under: General Electric (GE), Newsletters, Commodities, Oil, Stocks to Buy, Green Stocks, Obama Picks "President Obama has stated that he's been studying Roosevelt's first 100 days and the way out of the current economic mess will look a lot like the New Deal," says David Fessler. The advisory panelist for The Oxford Club explains, "Seventy-five years after Roosevelt's inauguration, I think we will soon see President Obama get the ball rolling on his version of the New Deal, focused on two very specific areas: energy and infrastructure."
