From http://www.mrswing.com/articles/Giant_Interactive_GA_Online_g... When it comes to numbers, Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) is the kind of company that accountants can only dream about; with a pro?t margin above 70% and huge cash reserves, the stock is selling well below book value," says Jim Trippon. In his The China Stock Digest he explains, "Giant was founded in November 2004 and as become one of the fastest-growing and most pro?table companies in the Chinese online game industry." "Despite constantly rising earnings as more and more Chinese log on to the Internet, Giant Interact...

GA, as we all know is a leading MMORPG company in China, with its IPO price 15.5, started its journey in USA since Nov. Currently the price is really low, and Giant Online, its 2nd online MMORPG is doing pretty well in Chinese market. In close beta, already over 100,000 ccu. So I am sure with the commercial launch of Giant Online, GA will gain a lot of profit again.

GA is the fifth largest player in the multi-player gaming arena of china. It has 15% of market share. It is headed by a Yuzhu Shi, a successful enterpreneur. Just compare it with shanda and netease, you will see the potential. China+gaming = >what else do you want?

NYT: Are Chinese Video Game Makers a Threat to Western Operators?
An interesting blurb in the New York Times in one of the sectors still exhibiting relatively decent (non government) performance in the U.S. - video games. Electronic Arts (ERTS) just seems to have lost its way - and judging by its stock, it seems to have missed the notice that we're in a new bull market.
Meanwhile Activision Blizzard (ATVI) took the reigns of leadership during this last console cycle - however the stock has fallen off a cliff of late, and really has been range bound.
Smaller players like Take Two (TTWO) and THQ (THQI) seem to rely on just 1 or 2 big hits (or busts) ... o...

Why Giant Interactive Is a Good Short
Giant Interactive (GA), a Chinese online game company, announced its preliminary results for Q3 yesterday morning. It sees its quarterly sales between $40 million and $43 million, which is lower than its guidance of $45 to $50 million issued on August 18th. <> This result is very disappointing given that the previous guidance was a disappointment to begin with when the Street was expecting $58 million before the last earning report. Merely 40 days later, Giant found that it was at least 10% below the forecast. If we assume that Giant management was telling the truth on August 18th and Giant was>...

Giant Interactive: After Weak Guidance, Citi Downgrades
Giant Interactive (GA), which yesterday reported a giant Q3 guidance shortfall, now has one less giant financial institution rooting it on. Citigroup analyst Alice Yap this morning cut her rating on the China-based online games company to Hold from Buy, slicing her target price to $8.60, from $9.50. She writes that the company’s weak outlook reflects three factors:
- The impact of new China currency regulations.
- Weaker-than-expected traction of its latest expansion pack for its ZT Online game.
- Lack of new revenue drivers in absence of new game launches.
