Gilat Satellite Reportedly In Talks To Buy Airspan

Gilat Satellite Networks (GILT) is in preliminary talks to acquire WiMax equipment maker Airspan (AIRN.PK), according to the Israeli business newspaper Globes. The story said the talks are at a very early stage. Pink-sheet listed Airspan, which has a market cap of just $5 million, competes with Alvarion (ALVR).

Gilat Satellite Networks (GILT) this morning said it has terminated an agreement to sell the company to a consortium or private equity buyers for $11.40 a share. That should not be a big surprise; Gilat had previously said that the consortium had refused to close the deal on previously agreed to terms.
