Filed under: Short stories, Stocks to Sell Some contend that shorting stocks is un-American. Hardly. Selling short provides liquidity to the markets, aids in price discovery, and provides an extra check - some argue the only check - against ill-conceived business ideas and incompetent executives.
New York Stock Trader Dave Fischer is a short king, and has made most of his money over the past 15 years shorting stocks. His favorite phrase is, "With those fundamentals, that stock can't hang on for long."
Short these shares if you can tolerate high-risk and are an experienced investor that does ...

Great company, surpassing earning consistantly. High margins on their used games sales, virtually no competition (those who consider BBY a competitor are foolish to do so). Only worry is lower guidance in upcoming Q as they are a relatively conservative company. That being said the stock has been cyclical and coming out of summer in to the christmas season has always done wonders for its shares.

Tiffany and Gamestop Stand to Benefit from the Rebate Checks

Summer is around the corner. Rebate checks are in the mail. So what are people going to buy with their checks? Walmart is cashing the checks for free. Sears is offerng a 10% match with a purchase of any gift card -- all this to lure enthusiastic shoppers who can't wait to spend their dollars.
But being that it is wedding season (which incidentally also means a season for wedding anniversaries), Tiffany (TIF) will be one of the beneficiaries of this double impact. Now the TIF stock has been having plenty of trouble of late. Technicians will tell you about the double top, followed by a reverse...

Since it is a relatively slow retail news week, we thought it might be worthwhile to publish a list of our favorite consumer stocks. Given the significant number of headwinds facing consumers (such as record high gas prices, declining home values and the corresponding "wealth effect," and lingering credit concerns), we concede that at this time, this space may not be appropriate for all investor. That being said, we still believe there are a number of compelling investment ideas to be found in this sector. <>In this post, we will look at video game retailer, <>G>>...

Two words, Wii Fit. I know this is a far cry from fundamental analysis so I'll get to that next...but first Wii Fit. This game is a game changer. While GTA is a popular game amongst video game enthusiast, I think Wii Fit will be popular with video game enthusiasts and many many more. This game represents the first time a game manufacturer has truly bridged the gap between a game and fitness. With so much of America facing serious weight issues...and the economy in trouble causing those gym fees to really sting, I think GameStop could really stand to profit. So now for the fundamenta...

by Zacks As we expected, GameStop reported stellar results for the fourth quarter with sales growth of 24% and EPS growth of 38% over the year-ago quarter. What s more, GameStop was equally bullish with its outlook for 2008 and 2009. The company expects to earn $2.25-$2.34 per in 2008 and EPS growth of 25% in 2009. Video game sales continue to be an island of strength amid a weak retail environment, and we expect industry growth trends to remain robust for the next few years. GameStop will benefit a great deal from these strong industry trends. We are once again increasing our estimat...

This is my first post and recommendation to this community so I thought I would start off with a bang. Gamestop Corp. (GME) reports quarterly earnings on 11/20/07 and I am expecting the results to greatly exceed expectations. Overwhelming success of Microsoft's Halo 3 and the increase in sales of Playstation 3 consoles will lead to the higher EPS for the quarter. In addition, guidance should continue to trend positive as next-gen gaming consoles continue gain traction along with releases of highly anticipated titles in 2008.

I've ridden this for 2 years and am up 200%. Games are a fact and the new hot titles, like Halo 3, have only begun to be released. Gamestop makes a killing on sales. They are selling the latest game titles at full price, and they have > 50% margins on used games. GME's greatest strength is in its inventory system: they can get the titles (new and used) to the stores that need them quickly. Listen to the conference calls. This is a very well run company. People kids can ride down the street to the nearest Gamestop and pick up the latest game, and trade in their old games. Brick-and-m...
