I like Warren Buffett. I think he is a very shrewd investor and an uncommonly astute business person. Do I think he is the be all end all when it comes to investing? Sorry, no.

What irritates me is his blatant self-promotion. Sure everyone in business has to promote what they do, but when they do so by leaving stuff out, well, it just grates on me.

Goodyear tiresGoodyear Tire and Rubber (GT) finally remounted major, psychological resistance at $10, pushing all the way to $15.35 this winter, before pulling back slightly. I first discussed the stock here on May 5, 2009, at a price of $13.30, and I obviously still like the shares.

Assuming the price of oil doesn't rise to the price of a preferred Bulova watch, the U.S. economic expansion will continue, and that demand, along with the global market, will generate at least adequate tire demand in the immediate years ahead.

The Obama administration has announced that it is imposing tariffs on Chinese tire imports. The three-year plan will be have 35% tariffs the first year, 30% tariffs the second year, and 25% tariffs the third year.

American consumers will pay more for tires over the next three years than they would if they could buy cheap Chinese tires, but it will be a benefit for U.S. big labor and domestic tire makers as their products will be more competitive...
