(HLS), the nation's largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation services, reported better-than-expected 2Q08 net income of $7.6M or EPS of $0.17 (versus consensus EPS of $0.07), compared with net income of $3M and EPS of $0.04 in 2Q07. Total revenue in 2Q08 was $460.8M, up 5% y/y, compared with $438.7M in 2Q07 underpinned by a significant increase in patient discharges during the quarter.
