Has great ideas for energy. Timing unfortunately may be against them. Company sells flyash that used to be just landfill...Technology for bad or thick oil. Innovative and inexpensive for a huge company to buy to seed ideas.

Given the low levels HW is trading at, I think is worth having a look at selling some puts. I don t think the stock will rise strongly any time soon, but a bottom should be found here. So selling March USD 15 puts at arund USD 1.50 might not be too bad an idea? Any thoughts on that ?

Headwaters: Awaiting an Increase in Infrastructure Spending and Home Building
For the first quarter of its 2009 fiscal year Headwaters, Inc. (HW) reported a net loss of 2¢ per share against the consensus estimate of a 4¢ profit. For the same quarter in the prior year HW had a 1¢ per share loss excluding discontinued and sold business lines (Call Transcript). <>I started following Headwaters a little over a year ago as the company started working its business plan to generate new revenues as the proceeds from its Section 45K clean energy business wound down when the section of the tax code expired. It has been working on transferring its clean energy technology >...

On Friday, I was about to write that it appears the continuing bad news makes me want to just go sit in the sidelines and wait for better days. The housing down turn is turning into a 4 year odyssey of pain for homeowners. Gas prices are causing SUV owners to trade in for Vespas. The recession that has been forecast by many actually appears to be arriving. <>Every time the stock market makes a modest gain, it gives it up and then some over the next few sessions. Stocks I believe are good values lose 50% of that value. Finally, the floods in Iowa strike close to home both personally and in reg>...

Headwaters Inc. (HW)
is a company in the midst of a turnaround of its major business
operations. The company has been hit by the double whammy of the
housing construction slow down impacting the construction materials
division (50% of sales) and the complete phase out of Section 45K
alternative energy business (coal to syngas). The syngas business was
propped up by the tax credits which are now gone, but a couple of years
ago provided about 40% of Headwaters' profits.<!--more--> <>To get thebusiness back on a profitable track, management is taking itstechnology from the syn-gas business into >...
