Jordan Hoffner, head of content partnerships for YouTube is heading to Ben Silverman's new IAC (IACI) company, reports Rafat Ali at PaidContent. Filling Hoffman's slot, will be Chris Maxcy, who was leading YouTube's music partnerships.

IAC (IACI) boss Barry Diller basically put Ask.com on the market during yesterday's earnings call. And as Reuters notes, there's no more likely buyer -- or outsourcing partner -- than Microsoft (MSFT).

Is Microsoft (MSFT) going to bite at Barry Diller’s offer to sell Ask.com?

As noted earlier this week, the IAC/Interactive (IACI) chief contends their is consolidation coming in search, and that his company is more likely a seller than a buyer. Reuters writes that Microsoft is viewed as the most likely buyer if Diller is serious about dumping Ask, the #4 search engine company after Google (GOOG), Yahoo (YHOO) and Microsoft (MSFT). Ask has about 4% of the domestic search market.

Unless you already have a major foothold in the search engine market - or an amazing, disruptive technology that can make the world take notice - there isn't much point in staying. Competing with Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is hard enough, even when you're Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) or Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) ... and, apparently, when you're IAC/InterActive Corp (NASDAQ: IACI). Barry Diller is ready to give up Jeeves, but only if asked nicely.
