Aside from the current fundamentals think about IMAX from the eyes of a consumer. I remember IMAX as a kid being this huge movie screen I got to see when I went on a field trip to the museum. I now have the opportunity to see blockbuster films on the same screen or pay a buck more and see the digital version of the film (i.e. better picture, better sound). This is what drew me to IMAX in the first place. Looking at the numbers currently...they are not so hot...but in my opinion this is a company with a lot of potential and well worth the risk involved.

IMAX. Does the company even need a description? With instant name recognition it goes without saying that they make, sell and lease the projection system which delivers larger than life movies. But the company has left investors scared, shaken and sleep deprived...and it isn't because of a recent horror movie they saw in IMAX. Its share price hasn't exactly been larger than life. With a 52 week high of $11, and a current trading price of $4, two huge price drops have burned those holding stock. Recent activity has brought some life to share price though, as buyout rumors brought it up...

Ha... I blew this one with my last pick.
That being said, no new idea works like an old idea. Imax had ditched the sad plan of selling out. Set some money on this short term in preparation for the following:
Last quarter they did not close a single deal. Mostly, I think, because they were focused on selling the business and not doing business. They will have a lot of hanging deals that get closed this quarter, this will make it look like a major improvement in their business. (not really)
Management will want to show the world that they are now "serious" about the prospects of the compan...

Imax jumps briefly on fake news of acquisition
Filed under: Scandals A fake press release circled the internet this morning, reporting that Disney (NYSE: DIS) was acquiring Imax (NASDAQ: IMAX) for $1.5 billion -- a premium of 90% to the company's market capitalization.
Shares of Imax jumped 6% on the news, but it was quickly squashed by the company which said in a statement that "[Imax] has not been acquired, nor is it in discussions with The Walt Disney Company about a potential acquisition."
There are a couple possibilities here. One is the pump and dump scenario, where someone bought a bunch of share -- or options -- hoping to pump up t...

IMAX: Not Being Acquired By Disney; Someone Issued A Fake Press Release

Someone was being naughty this morning. IMAX (IMAX) today issued a short announcement to say that a “false press release” this morning said the company was being acquired by Disney (DIS). “The Company has not been acquired, nor is it in discussions with The Walt Disney Company about a potential acquisition,” IMAX said. <>You can find the fake news here, here and here. The fake release is not very convincing; someone apparently cut-and-pasted some new paragraphs into the release announcing Disney’s acquisition of Marvel.
