<> I think the recent decline in Discovery Labs (DSCO) since the Company announced a minor delay in submitting a complete response to the FDA for an approvable ruling on Surfaxin represents a buying opportunity and bought some shares on Friday at $1.74 per share. Insider buying over the past two months (including a 75,000 share buy from the CEO at $1.87) demonstrates management's confidence in already meeting the FDA's requirements and the plan to submit a complete response to FDA for Surfaxin, which should now occur by about the third >...

ImClone Systems (IMCL) is set to sell itself for $6.1B or about $70 per share to the mystery big pharma bidder that Chairman Carl Icahn introduced as a defense against Bristol-Myers (BMY) original offer of $60, which was recently upped to $62 per share for the remaining 83% stake it does not already own. I have written about the saga on my blog since the end of July when Bristol-Myers made the original offer, but the Wall Street Journal s reporting the most likely bidders are Pfizer (PFE) or Eli Lilly (LLY). Both of these big pharmas are in need of a pipeline and have the cash to...

<> Last night, Bristol-Myers (BMY) announced plans to increase its bid for the remaining 83% of ImClone Systems (IMCL) it does not already own to $62 per share and plans to take the offer directly to shareholders in the form of a tender offer. ImClone and Chairman Carl Icahn rejected a $60 per share cash bid from Bristol-Myers at the end of July and stated that a mystery big pharma bidder had emerged at $70 per share, as I last wrote about here . Besides Bristol-Myers 17% stake in ImClone, the two companies are marketing pa>...

There isn't much novel here. Using antibodies to cure cancer may sound good but there could be adverse side effects from using antibodies. Also, their generally poor uptake requires a lot of material and many animals to produce these antibodies. Their margins look good but their PEG is 2.9 and P/E is 35. This doesn't look like a growth stock to me. On the plus size an 11% inside ownership shows the company isn't going to loose track of their finances.
