Intersil: Another Ugly Outlook Sends Stock Sliding Lower

Intersil (ISIL) shares are losing ground in late trading after the company cautioned that Q4 results would be extremely weak.

For Q3, the chip company posted revenue of $218.7 million and non-GAAP profits of 41 cents a share; the Street had expected $220.4 million and 40 cents.

Citi Sees “Snowballing Signs Of Softness” In Chips; Downgrades ISIL, FCS, RFMD, CLS, BHE

Citigroup’s Craig Ellis, who a month ago made wholesale estimate cuts for the semiconductor stocks he covers, today brought numbers down yet again.

“In the past three weeks, snowballing signs of product sales softness, freshly eroding macro indicators and dour field checks portend even greater near-term downside and a shallower mid-’09 recovery than our estimates reflect,” he wrote this morning. Ellis says he concluded that further estimate cuts and target reductions were needed.

Intersil: Oppenheimer Downgrades; Worries On Margins

Intersil (ISIL) shares are trading lower this morning after Oppenheimer’s Rick Schafer cut his rating on the stock to Perform from Outperform. He also trimmed estimates for the chip maker: For Q4, he goes to 39 cents, from 41 cents. His full year 2008 number drops to $1.55, from $1.57; for 2009 he’s now at $1.60, down from $1.71.
