<> The accompanying table contains a summary and statistics for 16 ETFI global equity indexes and two commodity pool fund ideas, with the short/inverse and defensive themes outpacing the overall market averages over the past year in the midst of ongoing market turmoil around the world. <> Although currently out of favor with investors, new commodity pool fund ideas include timber and coal. I'm getting to the party late, but this bad boy has finally cooked enough on my watch list. I've finally bitten on. Excellent company with great contracts that will assure revenue in the coming years.

Target $9-16, stop $6.25. Above the 50-day. New green bar. Coal - contrarian play on another unloved sector. Up 40%+ since posting an earnings miss and getting downgraded.

James River Coal: The Wrong Sector Proxy
<>We don't have much of this position left - about a 0.4% exposure - but I am closing James River Coal (JRCC) as the stock begins to break down post earnings. Monday, the company reported, and The Street was not too pleased. I have no affinity to James River other than as a potential takeover play; it was just a "proxy" play for coal and so many of its peers are acting much better, so when the stock market drops for more than 2 days.... or 2011 (whichever comes first).... I'll switch into any of a number of larger peers.

We don't have much of this position left - about a 0.4% exposure - but I am closing James River Coal (JRCC) as the stock begins to break down post earnings. Bookkeeping: Stopped out of James River Coal (JRCC) Short by JPMorgan Upgrade
I am sort of laughing today; I've owned James River Coal (JRCC) for a long time [still do with a small position] and when the stock was in the $13 - $14 range no one upgraded it. Now, in the $16s, as I shorted it for the first time ever, JPMorgan decides its time to upgrade. So as I held it for many months, no one in their kind heart decided to bless my soul with an upgrade....but within a week of shorting it... it was time to upgrade. After a 25% move off the bottom in a week, no less. Thanks JPM. Looks like its going to be one of those days.
I pledged to keep my losses contained so I ...

Bookkeeping: Cutting 95% of James River Coal (JRCC) Long; Starting Short Position
I am going to cut 95% of my James River Coal (JRCC) position here as it rallies into resistance along with the rest of 'reflation' nation. The high of the day is $15.76 thus far, I am selling in the $15.40s. This eliminates about 2% of my stake, I am keeping just a holding position so I don't have to announce I am "restarting" a position when the time comes.
Concurrently I am going to go short with a about a 3% stake, at the same price - I was not attentive this morning and missed the $15.70 price which would of been excellent. North of $16, say $16.15 I will stop out; this will limit any...

Bookkeeping: Long Reflation for a Very Short Term Trade
As long as S&P 887 holds, I'm willing to do the reflation trade for an oversold bounce... I added to James River Coal (JRCC), some Natural Gas ETF (at 52 week low!) (UNG), and some energy ETFs of varying types with about 10-15% of the cash horde. First time I've ever owned the natural gas etf. I am picking up some Yingli Green Energy (YGE) to add to the position - not really reflation but close enough.
If S&P 500 breaks the 200 day simple moving average I'll be out of all this, but for now I am expecting dead cat bounces and simply going on what my eyes see on charts - very overdue upside...
