Leadership changes at Jupitermedia (JUPM). MediaPost:

Jupitermedia Corp., the parent of Media Bistro and other online publishing and information businesses, this morning announced that Christopher Cardell has resigned as president-COO and a director of the company, and that Chairman-CEO Alan Meckler would assume the roles of president and COO as well.

Last week, Jupitermedia sold its stock photography business to Getty Images for $96 million.

Stop us if this sounds too much like Stephen Colbert's explanation of AT&T (T) eating its young: Tech/gadget analyst Michael Gartenberg just started his new job at Jupitermedia, the company that, just a few years ago, spat out his old company, JupiterResearch.

Confused? Let's back up.

Gartenberg -- one of the more-respected tech industry analysts -- is joining Alan Meckler's Jupitermedia (JUPM) as VP of Mobile Strategy. He'll be writing a new blog called Mobile Devices Today for Jupitermedia's Mediabistro division, speaking at events, and investing in startups on the side.

In a consolidation of two tech market research shops, Forrester Research (FORR) announced that it is buying JunpiterResearch from MCG Capital (MCGC) for $23 million in cash plus assumed liabilities. Give credit to MCG, which bought Jupiter in March 2006 for $10.1 million and related liabilities from JupiterMedia (JUPM).

Two surviving names from Bubble 1.0 are becoming one. Forrester Research (FORR) has bought JupiterResearch, and parent JUPR Holdings from MCG Capital Corporation (MSGC) for $23 million plus assumed liabilities. Jupiter had 2007 revenues of $14 million and has 82 employees. Forrester had 2007 revenues of $212 million and has 1,000 employees. JupiterResearch will become part of Forrester's Marketing & Strategy Client Group.
