Disney (DIS) had high hopes for A Christmas Carol. It was supposed to be an unqualified blockbuster. Unfortunately, the film's first weekend at the box office was nothing short of a disaster.

Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) Where the Wild Things Are was number one over the past weekend at domestic theaters as of early estimates from Box Office Mojo. The film grossed well over $30 million. Coming in second was Law Abiding Citizen. If Wild Things wasn't in the market this weekend, that one definitely would have been tops at the multiplex. The revenge fest, from Liberty Capital Group's (NASDAQ: LCAPA) Overture Films, brought in $21 million.

In addition to the updated problem bank list we posted up the other day, we saw this and thought it would be worth flagging for those interested. Audit Integrity, an independent research firm, has highlighted the top 20 companies that they believe have the highest probability of filing for bankruptcy. They limited this specific list to publicly traded firms that have over $1 billion market capitalization. In no particular order:

Shares of John Malone’s Liberty Media Interactive (LINTA), owner of “QVC,” are up sharply this morning after the company beat Q2 expectations for revenue and operating profit.

Revenue fell, year over year, to $1.9 billion the company reported, yielding adjusted Ebitda of $412 million. Still, that was ahead of the $1.834 billion and $345 million average estimate of analysts.
