Major League Baseball will start streaming Spring Training games on the Web tomorrow, and its new hi-def Web TV service is scheduled to launch next month. The biggest changes: Better quality streaming, a new DVR feature, etc.

But MLB has also made a bunch of behind-the-scenes changes to the service to make it more reliable -- to avoid downtime like it experienced at the beginning of last season. MLB Advanced Media, the league's Internet arm, briefed us on some of the improvements.

Pacific Crest Securities analyst Chad Bartley today upgraded shares of Limelight Networks (LLNW) from “Sector Perform” to “Outperform,” writing that the company’s 11,000 servers represent 20% share of the content delivery network industry, a “critical mass” for the company versus competitor Akamai (AKAM).

Merriman, Curhan, Ford analyst Richard Fetyko today raised his rating on shares of Akamai Technologies (AKAM), which reports earnings on Wednesday, from “Neutral” to “Buy,” arguing that Street estimates for the company have incorporated the worst. “Revenue growth of 10.5% in 2009 already reflects the impact from the macro environment,” writes Fetyko.
