Lincoln National Corp. - An Upgrade and Blessing by Doug Kass

nyse:lncLincoln National Corporation (NYSE:LNC) shareholders are jumping for joy, how about an 11% gain since Wednesday after CSFB Upgraded the company and a blessing from Dougie Kass himself.  Shares of LNC are up 4.5% today and trading around $16.50.  Despite all the fun, Lincoln National shares are down 66% over the last year.

Lincoln Financial: Recent offering brightens picture

A Buy rating has been generated in these circles for Lincoln Financial (NYSE: LNC), but there are qualifiers.

The value story? Lincoln, a financial management and life insurance company, appears to be stabilizing. Liquidity and capitalization concerns have been reduced as a result of Lincoln's recent 40-million-share, $15 per share offering. Further, chatter regarding a probable exercise of a greenshoe option of up to six million shares adds to the improving LNC story.

MET July option implied volatility of 70 is below a level of 82 from mid-May and below its 26-week average of 92, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.
