Live Nation Sees Ticketmaster Deal Closing In Q1

Live Nation (LYV) today said it expects the acquisition of the company by Ticketmaster (TKTM) to close in the first quarter of next year. Meanwhile, both companies today posted solid results for the third quarter.

U2 Concert Draws 10 Million Live Streams

U2's concert at the Rose Bowl on Sunday was streamed live by over 10 million viewers, Variety reports.

That makes it the most successful live event in YouTube's history. The number falls short of the 13.9 streams served up by CNN during President Obama's innauguration.

Options Update: Live Nation volatility low into EPS and Ticketmaster merger

Live Nation (NYSE: LYV), a producer of live concerts, closed at $7.19. LYV is expected to report Q3 EPS soon. LYV and Ticket master (NASDAQ: TKTM) announced a merger of equals in February 2009. Antitrust regulators have been reviewing the merger. LYV November option implied volatility is at 73, December is at 70; verses its 26-week average of 79, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.

A $3 million signing bonus for Live Nation CEO!

Live NationThere’s been lots of stories lately about some of the questions being raised over the merger between Live Nation (LYV) and Ticketmaster (TKTM) (see here and here for example) both here and across the pond in the U.K. It’s still unclear how that will resolve. But late yesterday, Live Nation filed several different forms — an 8K, a 425 and an amended S-4 — that had a new disclosure about a hefty payday for Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino.

Regulators Not Keen On Ticketmaster/Live Nation Deal

Trouble is mounting for the pending Ticketmaster (TKTM) acquisition of Live Nation (LYV).

As has been widely reported today, the U.K. Competition Council asserted that the proposed deal could severely reduce competition in the U.K. ticketing market, leading to higher prices and reduced consumer service.
